About Milacek Gliders

How it all began:  

In the summer of 2022, a friend introduced me to sugar gliders and let me tell you, my first encounter was anything but positive. Simba, the first sugar glider I ever met, peed and pooped on me while I was holding him… and then he bit me! Needless to say, I never imagined that sugar gliders would eventually become such a huge part of my life.

Later that same year, a friend of my husband’s, who was also a sugar glider breeder, was moving out of state and needed to rehome 11 gliders. I initially said no, but my husband eventually convinced me to take them in. That decision unexpectedly led me into the world of sugar glider breeding something I had never planned on and, honestly, knew very little about at the time.

As the gliders began having babies, I started spending more time handling them and quickly discovered what amazing, sweet, and intelligent companions they can be. I became fascinated by them and dove headfirst into learning everything I could. I read books, researched endlessly, absorbed every bit of information I could find, and reached out to experienced breeders in my area for guidance.

Through that journey, I learned that with proper care, knowledge, patience, and socialization, sugar gliders can become wonderful companions. They are often made to seem far more difficult to care for than they really are, and one of my biggest passions is helping future owners understand what these fascinating animals truly need to thrive.

I work hard to educate and prepare every future sugar glider owner before bringing a baby home. From proper habitat setup and nutrition to bonding, care, and overall well-being, I want my families to feel confident and prepared. We invest a great deal of time and effort into preparing our babies and carefully ensuring they go to loving, responsible homes.

Today, I am proud to be a USDA-licensed and lineaged sugar glider breeder. What started with an unexpected introduction and a sugar glider who literally peed, pooped, and bit me has grown into a passion I absolutely love. My hope is to one day turn this passion into my full-time career because I am completely in love with these fascinating little creatures and the joy they bring to people's lives.

We believe responsible breeding is about more than producing beautiful animals. It means focusing on health, temperament, socialization, proper husbandry, and making thoughtful placements with prepared owners.
